Hi there, I am a registered nutritionist (ANutr) with the Association for Nutrition, recognised by the NHS to provide evidence based diet advice.

I give practical advice, guided by science, to improve health and wellbeing. My main areas of expertise include:

  • Long term weight management (including fat loss and muscle gain)
  • Improving cholesterol levels
  • Reducing risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, vascular dementia and type 3 diabetes
  • Helping menopause symptoms
  • Improving gut health
  • Switching to a healthy vegan diet

I am also a regular contributor to several magazines, and Heart UK the cholesterol charity.

I have a Masters degree in Human Nutrition (Distinction) and I am trained in behaviour change techniques, which are crucial for making successful changes to your dietary habits.

Previously I spent 15 years growing the parenting site Netmums and was proud to be awarded an OBE for “Services to families” in 2012. My Netmums highlights included campaigning to make it easier for parents to serve up healthier meals, and developing an online course, sponsored by the Department of Health, to give parents the confidence to cook and provide healthy food for loved ones.

Reduce your risk of chronic disease

Our western diet often leads to inflammation and increased risk of  chronic diseases such as heart disease and T2 diabetes 2. But by making changes to your diet you can reduce these risks. I will work with you to reduce  cholesterol, blood pressure +/or blood sugar by making small, targeted changes to your diet.

Nutrition in midlife

Eating well helps us stay fitter and stronger for longer, and also protects against illness as we get older. I highlight key food groups and nutrients that are vital in middle to old age (for heart, bone, muscle and brain health) and I provide practical ways to incorporate them into your life.

""I must tell you that I already feel like a new person."

Client Testimonials

Female client in midlife

“I originally consulted Cathy because of increasing bouts of indigestion and stomach cramps; the help she gave me had an immediate positive effect and I have found that I have had much more energy over my ‘difficult’ winter period. I have establish a new more balanced diet and the icing on the cake has been that I have lost weight including a significant amount around my waist.”

A couple in their 60s

"My husband and I approached Cathy for help on different issues. For my husband it was on how to maintain a healthy weight and, for me, how to lower my high cholesterol level.   In both cases she advised us on changes to our diet and lifestyle, at the same time explaining the scientific evidence behind her recommendations and insights. During one of our meetings I  mentioned that I suffered with bloating after eating certain foods and have done for most of my life, becoming worse in later years leading to sleepless nights. With Cathy's guidance I no longer suffer from this as much and feel in control of what I am eating!

In summary Cathy has helped both of us achieve what we set out to do ( and more!) plus led us to become much more adventurous and varied in the foods we eat."

A couple in their early 30s

"With Cathy's help, my partner and I have identified the parts of our diet that were not great, and worked step by step to create much better and healthier meals.

Although our initial goal was to lose weight, which has been successful, the other side effects were where a good diet really comes into its own.

We found that we had more energy, and were calmer. We started to laugh uncontrollably and found life became more fun and playful again.

This has made eating a healthy diet, not just something that I have to do, but something I look forward to.”

Female (56 years) wanting a healthy eating advice following a serious illness

"It was very interesting and informative to speak with Cathy about my diet. She pointed out many ways of changing things to achieve the low salt, low sugar and low fat diet that I’ve recently had to face since having a stroke. My diet is now mostly home made, simple but effective. Thank you Cathy”

Female (50 years)

"I must tell you that I already feel like a new person… you might think I’m exaggerating but seriously it is like turning the lights back on. I am so glad I contacted you for this dietary assessment because I was really struggling with my tiredness.”

Diabetic male (65 years)

"After many crash diets I decided to seek help from a local Registered Nutritionist, Cathy Court. Following a few weeks of meetings with Cathy, my blood test shows my cholesterol and blood sugar have reduced and going in the right direct for Type 2 Diabetes remission. It’s also so nice to be able to fit into my t-shirts and trousers.
I’m extremely impressed with Cathy’s approach. Her advice and support have been first class and she has the tools I need to develop a long-term healthy eating and exercise regime.
I’m so delighted to have discovered Cathy Court to help me along the path to better health."
